Founded by Teesside Business Man - Lee Blackburn

A local entrepreneur is hoping to fulfil his dream and put smiles on the faces of hundreds of children in the Teesside area. Now that 36 year old Lee Blackburn’s businesses can run themselves and have the right managers in charge, he can devote time to support a charity initiative which he’s called The Bike appeal.

After working closely with and supporting TFM Radio’s charity, Make a Child Smile, Lee was both moved and motivated by the charity’s Christmas Appeal which ensures that children who are likely to wake up to nothing, receive gifts on Christmas Day. He remembers that special Christmas aged 8 and his very first bike, a BSA Bullet. It’s Lee’s dream for all children to have that memory and thrill of owning their own bike. ‘You cannot experience the joy of your first bike and I want to help Make a Child Smile to donate bikes to children who will be getting very little at Christmas’.

Lee whose businesses include a property rental portfolio and property development, tanning salons and internet health and beauty sites is no stranger to hard work and getting what he wants. The Bike Appeal will rely on the internet initially with Lee encouraging local business and individuals to buy advertising space on his new website, www.bike-appeal.co.uk, just like the million dollar homepage. The plan is for all children in the scheme locally to receive a bike but long term he wants to roll it nationally and manufacture bikes in China and import to the UK for distribution to underprivileged children.

This year Lee will be buying bikes in England and will be contacting companies to enrol in the scheme and also to negotiate discounts on buying bicycles, all monies donated will go to the children in the form of bikes..
